If you’re not a fan of long bike rides, but you’d like to get to know the area, try out a kick bike! At the Provincial Recreation Domain De Schorre, you can rent a hyper-modern version for an invigorating trip along the Rupel. Release the child in yourself when you zoom down the slopes coming out of De Schorre. Fantastic! The pace is somewhere between cycling and walking. With that in mind you can adapt the number of kilometres you want to cover. Within walking distance are the Lock House information office, where you can try out the cycling adventure module, and the Casa Grinta restaurant, where you can admire Paul Van Bommel’s cycling collection. There are also towpaths and dikes along the Rupel which offer an ideal place to explore for anything from a few hours to a full day. Take along a picnic or enjoy a bite to eat at a pavement café along the way. While groups of amateur cyclists whoosh past, you can sit back and enjoy the water and scenery in peace. The kick bike is a completely new cycling experience, with no saddle sores, only well-warmed-up leg muscles!
